Neo Geo Retropie
It's driving me crazy. I have been trying this all morning (ended up home from work after pulling a muscle in my back) and no dice. Archive.org only has a 0.2.97.38 set and when I extract it on Mac or Windows it says it is corrupt. I am downloading it again to retry. When I found a site that claimed to have downloads for individual ROMs that were 0.2.97.39, and I put them in the folders suggested, nothing. Why is this so difficult?

Currently (in Retroarch 1.4.1) trying to load a NEO GEO CHD file directly will crash Retroarch, it doesn’t matter if you have dummy files, correct bioses, hash files, etc. Proper for MESS (now MAME), the bios files should be placed in the same folder where are CHDs, if the bios are put in other location, Retroarch may crash. Maybe you’ll need to open a normal MAME game using Retroarch first to change three options, they are: Enable softlists (OFF) Media type (cdrm) Boot from CLI (ON) Now you can load the game: Even changing the options above, all other MAME systems should work without any problem.

I'm not sitting at my Pi right now, but I believe that could be manipulated with the es_systems.cfg file. If memory serves, you can add or remove different types of extensions on a per-system basis, including different case capitalizations. I guess the question would be, would the emulators themselves be coded to find any weird case entries, like neogeo.ZiP or not. I probably will just use the Kiosk mode solution since it will shutdown many of the ways for my Bro's family to screw it up and require my help fixing it. It's just too bad that they can still press random buttons on the joystick when a game is loading and seriously mess up configurations still, such as changing a system-wide default emulator and such. Yes it's the es_system.cfg that controls contents visability to ES.
RetroPie will now begin automatically transferring your ROMs. This may take some time. The LED on your USB drive will stop blinking when the process is complete.
Neo Geo Bios For Retropie
ALWAYS make a back up of your image so if you do something wrong or do an update which corrupts the data it can be easily re-flashed and Windows cant see a Linux data partition, only the boot/kernel (which is 58 MEG). For most MAME/FBA/NEOGEO the extensions are.zip.ZIP.fba.FBA but not.ZiP My experience is, that the BIOS will be recognized by the emulator itself if you rename it with mixed file extension but ES won't.
